If you have a damaged tooth, or want to improve the appearance of your smile, you may want to get porcelain veneers. At our dental practice, William L. Toler DMD, our dentist in Fort Valley, Dr. Toler, can provide you with attractive veneers to fix your smile problem.
Porcelain veneers are an excellent and cost-effective way to fix teeth that have cosmetic dental problems. A dental veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that is made to cover the front of the tooth. While this shell is extremely thin, it is also very strong. The porcelain veneer will last for many years. A patient can get one porcelain veneer to fix the appearance of one cosmetically-damaged tooth, or a patient can get many porcelain veneers to give them the perfect smile they have long dreamt of. If you have a tooth that needs to have its appearance fixed, our dentist in Fort Valley will first make sure that the tooth is not structurally damaged. If this is the case, you will instead need to get a porcelain crown which will cover the tooth on all sides, and strengthen the tooth. However, if our dentist finds that your dental problem is purely cosmetic, he will be able to provide you with porcelain veneers which perfectly color-match your adjacent teeth; no one will ever be able to tell you are wearing them. Porcelain veneers are used to fix the appearance of: teeth that are too short; teeth that are slightly misaligned; teeth that have uneven gaps between them; teeth that are misshapen; teeth that are chipped; teeth that have surface cracks in the enamel; teeth that are discolored and cannot be fixed with dental whitening methods; and many other cosmetic teeth problems.

If you want to make sure that your teeth and gums stay healthy, you will want to have a great at-home dental cleaning regimen, and visit our dental practice, William L. Toler DMD, for biannual dental exams and teeth cleanings. Our 31093 dentist, Dr. William Toler, will review the health of your teeth and gums at each dental exam.
As part of your regular dental exam by our 31093 dentist, our dentist examines the health of your gums. If our dentist finds that you are developing gingivitis, a common precursor to gum disease, he most likely will recommend that you have several regular teeth cleanings over the coming months to help your gums return to good health. Gingivitis is caused when plaque builds up on the gum line and irritates the gums. Plaque is also the cause of dental cavities. For this reason, it is extremely important that you have regular teeth cleanings so that all plaque and tartar can be removed from your teeth. Even with the very best at-home dental cleaning regimen, some plaque will always remain on teeth. During our dental cleanings, plaque will not only be removed from the surface of your teeth, but from in-between the teeth and from just below the gum line. If our dentist finds that deep pockets have developed between the teeth and gums, and plaque, tartar, food debris and bacteria are all gathering in the deep pockets, you will need to have a periodontal scaling and root planing treatment. This type of cleaning is like a deep cleaning for the gums which should help your gums return to good health in mild to moderate cases of gum disease. If you come to our dental practice for dental exams and teeth cleanings every six months, it greatly reduces your chance of ever developing gum disease or other serious dental problems.
